Bug's Birthday Party

Food tables

We set up a tent in the backyard and put all the food under it. We also set up 4 tables and put our favorite tablecloths on them and brought out all the folding chairs we could find in the house. We tried to put balloon centerpieces on all of the tables, but it was too breezy and they tried to fly away. We ended up tying the balloons to the tent poles instead.

Connie, Mary and Melissa

Melissa's Mom Connie, her sister Mary, our friends Patrick and Elizabeth, Harland and Jenny Lynn, my Mom and Dad, and Elizabeth's Mom Barbara all came to share in the good food and conversation.

Harland and Jenny Lynn

We had pork and chicken barbecue, corn on the cob, cole slaw, deviled eggs, pear salad, green salad, and roasted potatoes. It was all really delicious.

I made a Dark Chocolate cake with White Chocolate Ginger Mousse filling and created a huge butterfly out of chocolate to decorate the top. Unfortunately, it was so hot outside that the butterfly melted and it looks like it is "hugging" the cake.

The Cake

Melissa got lots of presents, but the biggest one was a bird feeder made by Dad. It is about 30" x 15" x 18". There's definitely lots of room for the birds to gather around. It is now on its own post in the backyard.

Wish you all could have been here. She really loved getting the card and the birthday phone call from the Fox Family, and the cute moose from Samantha.
