Planes, trains, and hitchin' a ride

Melissa left this morning at 5:45 for Eugene, OR. She was supposed to fly from LEX to Memphis, then on to Seattle where she would take the train down to Eugene, but somehow this adventure got more convoluted than when it started.

I dropped her off at the Lexington airport, where she got a faster flight by going to Detroit, then to Seattle, where she hopped the crosstown bus to the Amtrak station. Unfortunately, it had taken so long to get out of SEA-TAC, that by the time she had gotten her luggage checked on the train and her seat assignment, it was time to board. No hanging out in Seattle for Bug!

They had a 30 minute stop in Portland where she reported there were many colorful banners hanging everywhere she looked. It made a good impression on her. : )

When they got to Albany, another train was sitting on the track, so there was an hour delay while they moved the train in order to get through. Bug spent the time chatting with a lady who was traveling to visit her sister in Eugene, and when they arrived, the ladies gave her a ride to the hostel. Bonus for Bug!

She says that Eugene is really beautiful and I will love it.
YAY for us... the apartment search begins tomorrow.
