Happy Samhain!
smattering.org >> the friday five

1. Were you raised in a particular religious faith?
Most of my family on my Mother's side are very religious, and grew up in the Southern Baptist church. My great aunt Lucy married a baptist preacher. However, I did not attend regular church services as a child. Later on, my mother insisted that I attend with her, and the whole family started to attend services in the little church in my town.

2. Do you still practice that faith? Why or why not?

I do not adhere to baptist teachings because of their strict allegiance to the "Word of God", and their unwelcoming stance on homosexuality. I feel much more at home with pagan beliefs, and being one with the divine, rather than having some male patriarchal figure intercede on my behalf. I feel more spiritual now than I ever have before.

3. What do you think happens after death?

I believe that our spirits travel to a "heaven" of our own incarnation to await being reincarnated on this physical plane.

4. What is your favorite religious ritual (participating in or just observing)?
Just communing with the Goddess in ritual is so satisfying and comfortable to me.

5. Do you believe people are basically good?

This assumes that you can't have good without the polarity of evil, but I believe that there is so much grey area to work in there.
